YOU NEVER FOLLOWED JESUS. HE FOLLOWED YOU.

You say you follow Jesus.

You wear His name. You speak His words. You defend your beliefs. You point out the sins of others and tell the world what Jesus would want.

But let me ask you something.

Did you ever stop to consider that you might never have followed Him at all?

You went to church. You read the words. You learned the stories. You built an understanding of who He was supposed to be.

But did you follow Him when He led you toward someone you wanted to avoid?

Did you follow Him when He called you to forgive someone you wanted to punish?

Did you follow Him when He spoke about the hungry, the poor, the forgotten, and the people society would rather leave behind?

Did you follow Him when doing what was right cost you something?

Or did you follow the version of Jesus that agreed with you?

WHAT IF YOU WERE NEVER THE ONE CHASING JESUS?

What if, through every wrong turn, every failure, every moment of pride, and every time you convinced yourself you were right, the story was not about how faithfully you followed Him?

What if the story was about how desperately you needed to be found?

In the parable of the lost sheep, the shepherd goes looking for the one that is lost. The lost sheep does not find its own way home and then take credit for the rescue.

The shepherd searches.

The shepherd goes after it.

The shepherd brings it home.

And perhaps that is the part we forget.

We talk about finding God as if we accomplished something extraordinary. We talk about following Jesus as if the entire journey depends on our own strength.

But what if grace was already reaching for you before you even knew what to call it?

What if the person you thought you were leading toward Jesus was the person Jesus was using to reach you?

What if the stranger who showed you kindness, the person who forgave you, or the person you overlooked was the very person who exposed how far you still had to go?

And what if the greatest contradiction in your faith is this:

**YOU CLAIM TO FOLLOW THE ONE WHO SEEKS THE LOST, WHILE REFUSING TO SEEK THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE LOST SIGHT OF.**

You cannot claim to understand His mercy while making mercy conditional on whether someone deserves it in your eyes.

You cannot praise His compassion while treating compassion as weakness.

You cannot claim His name as a badge of superiority while ignoring the very people His teachings call you to care for.

And you cannot prove that you follow Jesus simply by saying that you do.

Jesus challenged the difference between calling Him Lord and actually doing what He said (Luke 6:46).

That question still stands.

Not just for churches.

Not just for politicians.

Not just for the wealthy, the powerful, or the people you disagree with.

**For every one of us.**

Including the person writing these words.

Truth does not become truth because we agree with it. And hypocrisy does not cease to be hypocrisy because we attach a religious label to it.

So perhaps the question is not whether you have followed Jesus.

Perhaps the question is whether you have recognized the love, mercy, truth, and responsibility that His teachings place before you.

Because you may spend your entire life telling the world that you follow Him, while never asking whether your actions reflect the One you claim to follow.

And perhaps, when you finally look back, you will realize that the story was never simply about how you found your way to Him.

**IT WAS ABOUT BEING FOUND.**

You never followed Jesus.

He followed you.

And now that you have heard the message, the question is no longer who was following whom.

**THE QUESTION IS: WHAT WILL YOU DO NOW?**
